Mission Statement
European Dignity Watch advocates, protects and defends free and just societies which are based on and depend of three fundamental pillars: the right to life, the family and freedom. We defend these core values as non-negotiable fundaments of any democratic society.
We work for the protection and the promotion of the dignity of the person from which every human right derives.
We advocate for fundamental freedoms and personal responsibility, which bring about rights and duties. In our activities we focus on: the freedom to act according to one’s conscience, to express one’s opinion, to act according to a religion or belief, not only privately, but also publicly, and the freedom for parents to educate their children according to their values.
We believe that the first and most basic right in a just society is the right to life for every human being beginning at conception and ending with natural death. Every person possesses inherent dignity, regardless of his or her concrete circumstances.
We seek protection for the family which is based on and respects the complementarity of a man and a woman cultivating stable relationships as the basis of a fulfilled family life. We affirm that the family is the best place for children and adults to learn and cultivate love, mutual respect and solidarity. We recognize the sustainable contribution of the family to a prosperous society and to future generations. Evidence shows that the best way to achieve this is within marriage.
We regard these principles as inscribed in and derived from the common nature of every person and as essential and stabilizing elements of our modern societies. These principles can be recognized by everyone regardless of one’s faith or belief, and they are essential for living together in a pluralist society.
