Internship

What is the EDW Internship?

The European Dignity Watch (EDW) internship offers an exciting opportunity for those passionate about the ideals EDW to work with partners at all levels of influence in the European Union. The internship is designed so that from Day 1, you are given responsibility for real work.  Our interns will have an intensive experience of European policy making and networking with a wide-range of stakeholders.

What are the objectives of the internship?

European Dignity Watch is a rapidly expanding organisation, and our interns will be an essential part of the team so that we can meet the growing demands for information, advocacy and maintaining a network. The objectives for the internship are:

  • To train individuals in the workings of European Institutions and the skills of networking, lobbying and communications in order to defend the three most vital pillars of society: Life, the family and fundamental freedoms.

  • To support the small but hardworking team in tasks ranging from drafting communications, to attending sessions in the European Parliament, to building new contacts with representatives from EU member states.

  • To help individuals who strongly believe in the ideals and aims of EDW develop the confidence and ability to influence at different levels of decision-making.

Who are we looking for?

From the beginning, our interns are presented with a large amount of information which they will be required to analyse and summarize for a variety of audiences. Interns will need to be able to network, to assimilate and understand complex texts, and to be able identify key areas of interest. We are therefore looking for a candidate with the following skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written command of English and one other European language.

  • Good knowledge of the European Institutions

  • A Proactive, efficient and motivated person who is also flexible and a team-player

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and practical approach to problem solving

  • Excellent communicating and influencing skills.

Information

Internships usually last for 3-months. If you are interested in a longer internship (6-12 months), please specify this in your cover letter. You should apply 4-6 month prior to your desired commencing date.

A 3-months internship is generally unpaid, but we cover travel expenses to and from Brussels. In certain cases, a contribution to housing and living costs can be granted. Living arrangements will need to be made separately by the intern.
